Toyota Land Cruiser FJ — Full Specifications, Mileage & Pricing (2026 SUV)

Toyota has officially unveiled the all-new Land Cruiser FJ, marking an exciting expansion of the legendary Land Cruiser family with a compact, rugged, lifestyle-oriented 4×4 SUV designed for adventurers, urban drivers and off-road enthusiasts alike.

Positioned below the traditional Land Cruiser 250 and 300 Series, the FJ blends classic Land Cruiser heritage with modern technology and global usability

The new FJ made its public debut at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 and is slated to go on sale in Japan and other selected markets by mid-2026. Toyota plans accessory customisation and strong aftermarket support to reflect diverse regional tastes and outdoor lifestyles.

🛠️ Engine & Performance

Unlike some rumors about diesel or hybrid versions, the confirmed engine at launch for the global Toyota Land Cruiser FJ is:

🧰 Powertrain

  • Engine: 2.7-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine,
  • Power Output: ~163 PS (~160–165 hp),
  • Torque: ~246 Nm,
  • Transmission: 6-speed automatic,
  • Drivetrain: Part-time 4WD system for genuine off-road traction

This setup may be familiar to Toyota fans since similar petrol engines power other regional Toyota models. It balances everyday drivability with off-road competence, delivering smooth performance on tarmac and reliable power on loose surfaces.

The FJ’s wheelbase of 2,580 mm gives it excellent agility — shorter than larger Land Cruiser models — and a tight 5.5 m turning radius that makes it surprisingly easy to manoeuvre on trails and in the city.

📏 Dimensions & Design

One of the most striking things about the Land Cruiser FJ is its classic yet purposeful design

✔ Length: ~4,575 mm
✔ Width: ~1,855 mm
✔ Height: ~1,960 mm
✔ Wheelbase: ~2,580 mm
✔ Seating: 5 occupants
✔ Body: Boxy silhouette with classic Land Cruiser visual cues

The design clearly nods to Toyota’s iconic heritage — notably the early FJ and 40-series models — with square body panels, round or C-shaped LED headlights, thick cladding, a vertical windshield, and rugged bumpers. Removable corner bumpers further enhance customisation and repair ease after tough off-road use.

The exterior also features optional add-ons like MOLLE gear panels, snorkel air intake options, roof racks and accessories for overlanders and expedition seekers.

🧠 Interior & Technology

Inside, the Land Cruiser FJ cabin is designed for all-terrain confidence and comfort, with a clean, functional layout that supports both daily use and long adventures:

✅ Horizontal instrument panel for better attitude judgement on trails
✅ Robust physical controls and easy-to-reach switches
✅ Large infotainment display with off-road telemetry (likely ~9–12 inch depending on market)
✅ Durable materials designed for outdoor use
✅ Digital instrument cluster and infotainment with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto compatibility (details region-specific)

Toyota’s focus on visibility, ergonomics and ease of use ensures the FJ feels just as confident crawling over rocks as it does cruising on highways.

🛡️ Off-Road Capability

Being a Land Cruiser, the FJ is engineered with real off-road capability in mind. Key features include:

✔ Body-on-frame construction for durability
✔ High ground clearance and robust approach/departure angles
✔ Part-time 4WD with low-range transfer capability
✔ Excellent wheel articulation similar to Toyota’s rugged 70 Series
✔ Tight turning radius enhancing trail manoeuvrability

These traits make the FJ a serious contender in the adventure SUV segment, capable of rough trails, forest tracks and even light expedition duties without compromising daily usability.

⛽ Mileage / Fuel Efficiency

Toyota has not officially released ARAI or certified mileage figures for the Land Cruiser FJ so far. However, based on its 2.7L petrol powertrain and compact off-roader design, real-world fuel economy in mixed driving conditions is realistically expected to settle in the 10–14 km/l range, depending on terrain and load. Estimates from similar engines in other Toyota models suggest this ballpark.

Since the FJ is built for capability rather than outright fuel economy, this is typical of body-on-frame SUVs with four-wheel drive.

💰 Price — Ex-Showroom & Expected On-Road (India & Global)

The Land Cruiser FJ does not yet have official Indian pricing or confirmed India launch timing; global availability begins mid-2026, with some reports suggesting an India launch could happen as late as 2027–2028 if the company chooses to bring it here.

Global Price (Reference)

In markets like Japan and parts of Asia, the FJ’s starting global price is estimated to reflect its entry-level off-roader positioning, well below larger Land Cruisers — but Toyota has not shared official figures yet.

Expected India Pricing (Projected)

If Toyota India launches the FJ, industry projections point to a likely ₹30 – ₹45 lakh (ex-showroom) price range, positioning it below the Fortuner but above compact SUVs, thanks to its body-on-frame construction, 4×4 hardware and heritage nameplate value.

• Ex-Showroom Estimate: ₹30 – ₹45 L
• On-Road Estimate: ₹33 – ₹50 L (city-dependent taxes & insurance)

This pricing would make it a unique option targeting adventure-oriented buyers who want genuine SUV capability without paying full Fortuner or larger Land Cruiser premiums.

📍 Summary

The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ is an eagerly anticipated compact off-road SUV that stays true to the Land Cruiser legacy of rugged reliability, go-anywhere capability and timeless design — yet in a format that’s more accessible for everyday owners. With its 2.7L petrol engine, part-time 4WD, agile footprint and customizable features, it’s designed for both urban commuting and serious terrain challenges.

Whether heading off on a weekend trail or navigating city streets, the FJ promises to deliver adventure, durability and versatility — much like its legendary predecessors — while appealing to a broader global audience upon its mid-2026 launch
