Maruti Suzuki e Vitara — India’s New Electric SUV (2025–2026)

Maruti Suzuki’s e Vitara marks a major milestone in the company’s history — it’s the brand’s first true electric SUV aimed at the mass market in India. Positioned as a premium yet practical EV, the e Vitara combines Maruti’s trusted reliability with modern electric vehicle technology, strong driving range, advanced safety features and an appealing design.

The model was showcased in India in December 2025 and is set to go on sale in January 2026, with bookings opening soon.

Built on the dedicated HEARTECT-e platform, the e Vitara delivers robust structure, efficient packaging and EV-centric driving dynamics that cater to both city commuters and long-distance travellers.

🔋 Battery, Power & Range (Mileage Equivalent)

Unlike conventional cars with “km/l” mileage, electric vehicles are judged by range per full charge and efficiency. The e Vitara offers two battery pack options with varying performance and range:

Battery Options & Powertrain

  • 49 kWh Battery – 2WD: ~142–144 PS & ~189 Nm torque,
    61 kWh Battery – 2WD: ~172–174 PS & ~189 Nm torque,
  • 61 kWh Battery – AWD (AllGrip-e): ~184 PS & ~300 Nm torque (expected higher torque version on top variants),

Range / Driving Mileage

Range figures vary by battery and cycle standard:

  • 49 kWh 2WD: ~344 km WLTP range,
  • 61 kWh 2WD: ~428 km WLTP range,
  • 61 kWh AWD: ~394 km WLTP range,

In India, the larger 61 kWh front-wheel-drive variant is projected to offer over 500 km ARAI-equivalent range on a single charge, making long drives and highway travel far more practical — a crucial advantage in EV adoption.

💰 Expected Price – Ex-Showroom & On-Road (India)

At launch, Maruti hasn’t officially announced exact prices, but credible sources and industry estimates point toward the following range:

Ex-Showroom Price (Estimated)

Variant / BatteryExpected Ex-Showroom Price (₹)
Base 49 kWh 2WD₹20,00,000 – ₹21,00,000
61 kWh 2WD Mid₹22,00,000 – ₹23,00,000
61 kWh 2WD Top₹24,00,000 – ₹25,00,000
61 kWh AWD (AllGrip-e)₹26,00,000 – ₹28,00,000 (expected later)

These price bands place the e Vitara competitively against rivals like the Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV and Mahindra BE 6.

On-Road Price (Estimated)

On-road prices vary by city due to RTO taxes, insurance and registration charges. For major metros like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore or Chennai:

  • 49 kWh Range: ~₹22 – ₹24 L (on-road),
  • 61 kWh Range: ~₹24 – ₹27 L (on-road),
  • Top AWD Variant: ~₹28 – ₹31 L (on-road),
Note: These are rough estimates and final on-road prices will depend on local tax and insurance offers.
